Microwave assisted synthesis of fluorine substituted pyrrole heterocycles with aniline and fluorinated diketone derivatives are purposed. The purposed reactions are green and have a high atom economy as it is a multicomponent reaction in an environmentally friendly aqueous medium with β-cyclodextrin as a catalyst. Fluorinated compounds have been found to have increased selectivity and biological absorption, but compounds can be challenging to fluorinate. Furthermore, pyrrole heterocycles are often found to be biologically active, and if these reactions are successful it could be used as an intermediate to fluorinate future compounds.
