This summer, I worked for Lutheran Family Services as an Employment Intern in the Refugee and Asylee Services department. This internship allowed me to gain more insight into the innerworkings of non-profits and was my introduction to formal remote work. Spending every day speaking to clients over the phone about their career ambitions was an experience I will never forget, as it taught me more about international diversity, patience, and the importance of listening. By the end of the summer, my managers left me with a deeper understanding of accountability and communication within the workplace, which I can apply to any jobs I pursue in the future.
