Maggie’s Place provides life-changing programs and services for pregnant and parenting women formerly experiencing homelessness by offering a warm and welcoming community, a safe place to live and learn, and on-going services to help them become self-sufficient. In my eight weeks serving as a live in AmeriCorps member, I focused on building relationships and providing support within a trauma-informed care model to the seven moms and five babies in my home. I collaborated with a team of corps members, social workers, counselors, and other support staff to implemented capacity-building programming and facilitate individual goal setting. I also responded to duty of the moment, including emergencies and conflicts within the home.
