During my time at McLean Hospital I helped conduct research that sought to explore how stressors from the COVID-19 pandemic correlated with mental well-being and decision making. I began the summer by helping design questionnaires meant to measure levels of stress due to COVID and their overall mental health. Later, I was tasked with recruiting people from student job boards, volunteer websites, and Facebook groups from all over the United States, Canada, and Australia. At the time of my departure, my mentor and I had successfully recruited over 1,200 people. As the summer came to a close, I began to design scoring templates for the various questionnaires participants completed. These questionnaires measured everything from depression and anxiety to change in routine due to COVID. Finally, I was given the amazing opportunity to analyze and present the findings of the study to members of the laboratory I worked for.
