The CC COVID-19 Reporting Project looks at Colorado College and other higher education institutions during COVID-19. This project focuses on the ways COVID-19 is affecting CC by providing original reporting, interviews with campus leaders, and a CC-specific analysis of national news. Over our 10-week grant, we published 52 newsletters where we surveyed more than 100 CC students and 180 staff, interviewed public health officials and former CC president Jill Tiefenthaler, and attended eight town halls. We covered CC’s changing plans for fall and how COVID-19 has impacted members of CC’s community. We also pored over packets of re-opening guidelines for schools. We partnered with CC Associate Professor of Molecular Biology Phoebe Lostroh to publish her weekly COVID-19 forecasts for El Paso County, and she explained the latest news in the science world. Moving forward, the newsletter will be a part of The Catalyst, the independent student newspaper on campus, so we can continue to publish COVID-19 news during the academic year.
