This summer, I worked as a GROW intern at Western Organization for People Living with AIDS/HIV (WOPLAH). WOPLAH works to destigmatize and provide appropriate care for people with HIV and AIDS in Mumias, Kenya by forming support groups and projects towards addressing threats to basic living standards such as food insecurity. As an intern, I searched and applied to grants, updated the organization’s website as well as the blog page. Lastly, I collaborated creating an animated video. It was very meaningful to me to learn about many aspects of global health challenges the Mumias community was facing, as well as many diverse programs designed for specific support groups.
